ABOUT ME
Darrell L.
Retired Pilot, Awesome Husband & Father, Blogger

First things first: I’m a retired Air Force Pilot. You didn’t ask, but I’m obligated to tell you right off. How do you know someone is a pilot? They will tell you. By our rules, we have to tell people we’re pilots in the first 30 minutes of meeting you. I shoot for the first 45 seconds. I was also a US Army Helicopter Repairer, OH-58D. Hence the two wings. "College education to break it. High School education to fix it."
I’m a handsome tan devil born in Vietnam, raised in the US Air Force, and retired from the military after serving in the US Army and the US Air Force. After all that, I realized I’ve been a lot of places and enjoyed some really good food.

I’m not a chef nor a gastronomist (a big word for “I love good food”). I do like me some good steaks, barbeque, seafood, and just about anything that isn’t Indian or Russian cuisine. Nothing against curry mind you, but it makes up too much of Indian food and I’m kind of “meh” at this point. As for Russian food, add a little spice would ya? Having grown up with a Vietnamese mother and a father from the South, if I think it’s spicy, it will kill most Midwesterners. I have spent a lot of my life in Ohio, so I’m familiar with the Midwestern palette and its lack of action in most cases.

I have an undergraduate degree in International Studies, Far East Relations from THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY and a Masters in International Studies, National Security at Troy University. I can say thank you in a variety of languages and I can use Google Translate better than most. Now, after years of trying out different restaurants in different countries, I’ve decided to give you the benefit of my food knowledge. I hope you learn a little something and get some ideas on where to go. Sit back, grab your favorite beverage and let’s explore the food universe. Above all, Enjoy the Moments!
