We have visited the Blue Habanero in Cleveland, Ohio, for several years. With the large bar and the two dining sections upstairs and downstairs, there is always ample seating for the busiest times. If you go in the warmer months, you can sit outside in the back patio area. The décor is subdued but tasteful and adds to the ambiance. The Latino music is always good. All of this helps you enjoy the great food coming your way.
Even with just a one-page menu, there is a lot to choose from. You could try each of the tacos and not be disappointed with any of them. I’ve tried the Street Tacos, the Spicy Grilled Burrito, the Burrito Gigante, and, this last trip, the Carne Asada plate. There is plenty of the large, thin-cut steak, which is tender and seasoned very well. Once you slice the meat and lay it on the fresh soft tortillas (you get three), pile on the mixed greens and Pico de Gallo and top it with freshly sliced jalapenos. I love those crunchy green spicy peppers. You will enjoy every heavenly bite. Having meat left over after filling three tortillas is even more satisfying. You are building your own soft tacos, and it is worth it. The plate also comes with the Mexican Rice, which is the best I’ve ever had…, and I’ve been to Mexico and lived in Texas. I’m not much for refried beans, so the wife and I trade; she gets more beans, and I get more rice.
If you’re ever in Gordon Square, visit the Blue Habanero for a delicious time. Next time we go back, I’ll try something else… or maybe stick to my new favorite, the Carne Asada. And let me know how fast the food comes out if you go. I don’t think McDonald’s can serve their food that fast. The speed doesn’t take away from the flavor and freshness. Next time you crave Hispanic food, have a Blue Habanero!
